What is a Bingo?
Typically, a Bingo refers to any challenge and/or event where themed cards are generated and handed out to participants, and these participants can create fanworks to fill the squares in their cards to earn points.
What about the PDL Bingo?
The PDL Bingo is a low-pressure, low-commitment multimedia fanwork challenge centered around the baihe author Please Don't Laugh's novels, meant to encourage the creation of content in the fandom. The novels include, but are not limited to: Clear and Muddy Loss of Love (JWQS), Female General and Eldest Princess (FGEP), Matrilocal Marriage (RUZHUI), etc.Bingo cards will be randomly generated from prompts based on a trope list. Participants can then cross out squares on their given card by creating work(s) based on the prompts, and can choose as many or as few prompts as they wish, so long as at least one is fulfilled. There are no check-ins or hard deadlines for this challenge, but creators who submit their filled out bingo cards by the last day of the creation period (December 31st, 2022) will be able to earn reserve notes, which can be exchanged for points!For more detailed logistics, check out the FAQ's and/or the timeline.

I want to play bingo! But what should I do?
Once card requests open in March, fill out a card request form! (See the FORMS page for the link.) If you have any preferences, please mention them within the form, and I will accommodate them to the best of my ability.
Your personal bingo card should be sent out within a few days. Once you have received it, you can choose tropes from the card to create content for. For a challenge, try to see if you can get a bingo!
You can submit your creation whenever you're ready! To submit to the challenge, just tag @PDLBingo on Twitter, along with an image of your card with the selected tropes crossed out. Fics may be submitted to the PDL Bingo Challenge collection on AO3.

What is trope prompting? How does it work?
Trope prompting was open for all of February 2022! This is where you get to submit any and all tropes that you want to see content created for. Anyone is allowed to fill out this form, whether you plan on joining this challenge as a creator or not. You may also submit multiple times, so if there's a trope you forgot to add, no worries—just submit a new form! At the end of the trope prompting period, I will collect all tropes and compile them into a list, which will then be used to generate bingo cards.

Here's an example of a bingo template! Each bingo card has 24 trope squares and 1 free space. The tropes in the squares are randomly generated, but if there are any prompts that you would personally not like to see, you may opt out of them and they will be omitted from the random generator of your personal card.

All you have to do to cross out a square is create some form of content, whether it is a drabble, thread, edit, or fanart, etc., that features characters from PDL's novels and satisfies the prompt in the square! You may fill multiple squares using one submission, but each submission must fill AT LEAST one square. Feel free to interpret each trope as you see fit; no need to limit yourself to strict interpretations! Remember, just have fun!

Can I opt out of a specific trope?
Yes! When requesting a bingo card, there will be space in the form to specify which tropes you would like to exclude from the selection process. For participants over 18, you will also be given the choice to receive NSFW tropes as well, if you select that option. More in-depth instructions will be displayed within the card request form!

What is the FREE square on my card?
This is your free-for-all! At the center of each bingo card, there is an empty square labeled FREE. You can cross this square out by filling it with any trope of your own choice, as long as it does not appear elsewhere on your card.

What is the RESERVE NOTES system? Do I get anything in exchange?
All RESERVE NOTES can be exchanged for points, which will all be tallied up at the end of the creation period. Truthfully, these RESERVE NOTES are about as useful as they are in the Wei kingdom (sorry, Qi Yan), as there won't be any real compensation for participants. Still, I encourage you to look at the RESERVE NOTES system as a quantitative measurement celebrating your contribution to the fandom. Bask in the satisfaction of knowing you helped create content for other PDL fans to consume and enjoy!Of course, for the more competitive of us, here's some extra incentive for you: As encouragement for participation, there will also be regular updates throughout the creation period, and those who have cashed in the most points within each update period will get a special shoutout on Twitter and sponsored bragging rights. Of course, you don't need to exchange your RESERVE NOTES for points immediately, so you can always save up and have your NOTES carry over to the next round, or cash them in all at once. Feel free to play strategically! At the very end, the participants with the most overall points will have the honor of being displayed in a "hall of fame" of sorts (...essentially, glorified bragging rights).All in all, the points system is only meant for some friendly, light-hearted competition! Don't take it too seriously, but do have fun earning those RESERVE NOTES!

If you have already gotten a bingo on your card, you may fill out another card request form to receive a new card. Alternatively, you may request a new card if you have filled at least 7 distinct squares on your old card. Otherwise, you may request for a free card discard, but only one is permitted for each participant throughout the entire event, so please use this as a last resort. Remember, the full list of potential tropes is available here, and if there are any tropes you DO NOT WANT, there is an option to opt out of them in the card request form.

Are there any content guidelines?
Since this is a Bingo event for PDL novels, all fanwork submitted to this challenge must feature at least one character from any PDL novel in the spotlight. There are no restrictions to the media used to create the fanwork, so feel free to be creative! Anything, and I mean anything, is welcome.Additionally, this challenge is open to all audiences, but if you are under 18, please do not request NSFW tropes, nor should you submit other NSFW content to this challenge. I ask also that creators tag their works extensively and appropriately, especially if there is potentially triggering content. I have no way of enforcing these guidelines, so this all operates under an honor system, which I hope everyone will adhere to.
